Sing for Water Cardiff 2017 – UPDATED 2.6.17

Sing for Water Cardiff Sunday June 18th.

We have a lovely choir of 35 singers. We will be joining a growing choir of 500+ singers for the big sing as well as busking our own songs around the area.

I have now set up a Just Giving page for the whole choir and this term’s tea and coffee money from the Devizes choir will also go to Sing for Water. In 2015 we raised £1668 (including gift Aid) this way. I will be thrilled if we get anywhere near that total this year.

The coach is now booked and is full. It will depart Devizes ‘Station’ Car Park at 6.45am and depart Bradford on Avon Station Car Park at 7.30am. This is for arrival at Cardiff Bay at 9.15am to keep the the event schedule set out below.

The busking slots have not been finalised. We will have a 15minute slot (mostly outside) and so will sing:

E Malama – Wild Mountain Thyme – Kalinka – Voice of the Bard – Agios O Theos

What you need to know about the day

On arrival you can leave belongings in the Wales Millennium Centre (WMC). We have been given a designated room for this, you will be shown where to go on the day. Please don’t leave valuables in there but you may want to deposit your coats, picnics etc.

When you are on the steps it is important that you don’t have anything with you other than what you are wearing. A shoulder bag, raincoat or bumbag would be ideal but PLEASE don’t bring anything that needs to be put down.

Please don’t bring an umbrella even if it is raining. This could cause injury when we are standing so close together. We will be moving you around considerably before we start singing, and anything put down on the steps has the potential to cause someone to trip. And those steps are quite tall so we need to be extra careful about this! Safety first!

There will be an “extreme wet weather” contingency plan. But if the forecast looks uncertain, please bring a rain coat.

We will assemble in the space between the Pierhead building (the red brick building) and the Wales Millennium Centre at 9:30am. From there we will arrange you on the steps in time to start the morning rehearsal 10:00am – 12:00pm. If anyone is in a wheelchair, needs assistance with walking or cannot stand for long periods please go directly down to the base of the steps where there will be a row of chairs.

Free time will be between 12pm and 3pm.  Busking slots between 12.20 and 14.40 (exact timings coming soon)

The main event will start at 3pm and will finish approximately 4.15pm
