Sing Alive this Winter

I trust you all had a good break over half term. It was lovely to see some of you at a packed St Mary Tory in Bradford on Avon for the Winter is Coming workshop.

The winter half of term starts this week (Tues Oct 31/Thurs Nov 2). I have chosen some beautiful seasonal songs from the traditional Holly and the Ivy to the classic Christmas Song (better known as Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire). With some less well known folk songs and carols including one of the many settings of While Shepherds Watched.

For those who enjoy being a part of our performances our Christmas concert is in Devizes this year in the Georgian splendour of the Assembly Rooms of the Town Hall. On Sunday December 10th. It is an evening performance with a 5pm rehearsal.

We also have the Bradford on Avon pub carols to look forward to (one of which we will be learning this term). I will be co-leading the first of the sessions in The Swan on Sunday December 3rd from 4pm. Do come and be a part of this lovely town tradition, now in it’s ninth year. More info here

We also return to St Mary Tory in Bradford on Avon on December 2nd for an hour of beautiful Taize singing by candlelight starting at 6pm. Booking is essential as this workshop fills up really quickly. Details here

We are taking part in the Bradford on Avon Christmas Tree Festival which runs from the 5th – 10th December at Holy Trinity Church. We will have a tree (volunteers to help decorate on 3rd Dec please) and Sing Alive will give a lunchtime performance at 12.30pm on the opening day of the festival on 5th December.

Some practicalities. This half term is six weeks long so the fees are £44. Cheques to E.S.Penlington (no variations please as the bank throws them back at me) or online into acount number 29319160 sort code 30 90 54

The song sheets are now on the harmonies and words page. The parts are being recorded this week.
