Sing Alive Christmas 2017

Our Christmas songs are starting to come together now. Thanks to all for your hard work learning and listening.

Our Christmas concert is on Sunday December 10th in Devizes Town Hall.

Rehearsal is at 5pm. The performance starts at 7.30pm and will be over by 8.30pm with refreshments available afterwards for guests. This year we are raising money for Alzheimer’s Support Music for the Mind (Singing for the Brain as was)

I would like us to do the performance without books please. Feel free to bring a prompt bit of paper for the couple of songs with a lot words if you need to – just no folders.

The running order for our concert on December 10th is:

Dona Nobis Pacem; Halsway Carol; While Shepherds; Ave Maria; The Holly & The Ivy; Chestnuts roasting; Nelson’s Blood; Zulu Lullaby; Please to see the King; Silent Night songalong with audience.

We have five readers, many thanks to Tricia Parkes, Pauline Guiney, Tina Long, George Henderson and Derek Walker.

Thanks also to those who have volunteered to set up/clear up/serve refreshments/provide food etc.

Thanks also to those who have bought tickets. We can sell up to 44 more tickets so do spread the word. Tickets are £5 in advance or £7 on the door. If people want to save PayPal fees then do bring the money to choir or advise people to pay by bank transfer.

I have made a couple of changes to the song sheets. Notably on While Shepherds where we will now sing all the verses and corrected the errors on Please to see the King where the second line of verse two should read ‘In silks of the best’ and an error on The Christmas Song where the line is ‘ev’ry mother’s child will learn to spy’

I also took an executive decision to simplify life for the sopranos. Have changed one note (you can probably guess which one) in the middle bit of ‘Chestnuts Roasting…’ and re recorded it. Please take a listen. All other parts stay the same.

New song sheet also now on the Harmony and Words page
