Choir News 2018

A Happy New Year to all singers. I hope you all had an enjoyable festive break and are looking forward to the singing year ahead. Thanks to all who took part in our Christmas concert in Devizes, both singers and audience. It was such an enjoyable evening and we raised £313 for Alzheimer’s Support, Music for the Mind group in Seend.

Our 2018 singing year starts early with Bradford on Avon meeting on Tuesday 2nd and Devizes on 4th January.

I have chosen some gorgeous new songs for us to sing, including a joyful African drinking song, a cheerful setting of an American Quaker poem and the beautiful traditional Scottish song, The Parting Glass. We will also sing some old favourites and continue singing songs we started in the Autumn.

Forthcoming Workshops
Singing the Seasons workshops are continuing with the Herald of Spring workshop on March 24 and our Midsummer sing on June 23. All workshops are held on Saturdays.

If you missed the Taize workshop in December, I am running another workshop as part of the Bradford Roots Festival 2018 on the morning of Sunday 21st January. Tickets for the festival are available from the Wiltshire Music Centre. The White Doves Choir are also performing after the workshop.

White Doves Choir
The White Doves Choir is currently seeking Bass and Alto voices. If you are interested in being a part of this small performance choir, it is open to all singers interested in promoting peace through music.
There are no auditions. Singers are expected to learn new songs and repertoire by heart and attend the majority of rehearsals and performances. Written as well as recorded music is available to support learning.
If you know of anyone who may enjoy the experience do spread the word.
Our welcome session of the new year is on January 3rd. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings in Trowbridge. Find out more
