Garland Sunday

    Sunday July 29th  2pm – 4pm                               Bradford on Avon

Singing The Seasons is a series of workshops celebrating the turning of the year.

Garland Sunday is an ancient celebration giving thanks for the first fruits of the harvest.

We will learn and sing simple songs in the stunning surroundings and wonderful acoustics of the Saxon Church and the church of St Mary Tory in Bradford on Avon.  All songs are taught by ear. No previous singing experience needed.

It was traditional on Garland Sunday to walk, as a community, up a hill.  So after singing at the Saxon Church we will take a short walk together to sing up at St Mary Tory.

Garland Sunday was known in some Celtic traditions, as First Fruits.  You are invited to bring a small gift of seasonal fruit to share during the event. If you wish you may also bring some garlands or flowers.

The event starts at The Saxon Church at 2pm

Due to the limited capacity at each location numbers are strictly limited to 25 singers. Advanced bookings only.

Singing the Seasons is a series of events staged in partnership with The Saxon Church Trust and a percentage of profits will go to the trust to assist with the upkeep of the buildings.
